CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
MTT Group Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy
Various mineral-derived materials are used in the products manufactured and sold by MTT Group, and these materials are procured from various sources around the world through various supply chains. Some of these include the involvement of armed groups, serious human rights abuses, and environmental destruction at mines, smelters, and refiners. Therefore, avoiding the use of materials supplied by businesses with high human rights and environmental risks in such regions is required as one of the corporate social responsibilities. In order to fulfill these social responsibilities, the MTT Group has established the following responsible mineral sourcing policy, made it known to all employees, and disclosed it to the general public.
- In accordance with the Due Diligence Guidance established by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the MTT Group conducts a reasonable investigation of origin and due diligence to ensure that materials derived from tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (known as 3TG or “conflict minerals”) do not directly or indirectly fund conflict of armed groups located in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its adjoining countries.
- The due diligence described in Clause 1 is also practiced to avoid sourcing from suppliers with high human rights and environmental risks* located in conflict affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs) other than the DRC and its adjoining countries in response to changing social demands or customer requests. * See Annex II of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
- The due diligence described in Clause 1 also applies to materials derived from minerals other than 3TG, such as cobalt and mica, in response to changes in social demands and requests from customers.
- In the unlikely event that a significant risk is discovered in our supply chain, we will request our business partners to switch to a low-risk supply chain.
- The MTT Group appropriately discloses information regarding these initiatives to customers and stakeholders.
In order to maintain this responsible mineral sourcing policy, each operating company and division sets targets for responsible minerals sourcing at the beginning of each fiscal year, thoroughly disseminates them as targets for daily activities of the division, and works to improve them.
